The process of applying for a Massachusetts ID card can be completed through the state Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) by individuals who cannot drive and those that choose not to operate a motor vehicle.

A state issued ID serves as an official identification document similar to a driving license, without extending any driving privileges. Note that you cannot hold both a MA DMV ID card and a license to drive at the same time. Also, in addition to the standard identification card, the RMV issues liquor ID cards for residents who are of legal drinking age. Requirements for an ID Card in Massachusetts

When submitting a Massachusetts ID card application, nondrivers will be required to meet several DMV ID requirements. The set of requirements for state ID credentials will slightly vary depending on whether you are applying for a standard or a liquor non drivers license. The following list outlines what you need to get an ID card in Massachusetts:

You must be older than 13 years of age for standard state ID credentials or 21 years of age or older for liquor ID cards.
You must not own a valid driving license issued by any U.S. state.
You must be able to submit proofs of date of birth, legal signature, state residency and a Social Security Number.
You must submit a parental consent signature on your MA ID card form (if younger than 18 years of age).

Applicants for Massachusetts state ID cards will be required to submit separate documentation for each category outlined above. For instance, the following documents for ID card credentials are examples of acceptable proofs of state residency: a car registration, a utility bill or a bank statement.

Along with your MA ID card application and proof of residency, you will also have to submit a document containing your birth date, such as a U.S. passport or a birth certificate.

The final required document is a form containing your legal signature, such as a learner's permit, a lease agreement or a military ID. Note that the RMV will not process your request for a state issued identification card unless you submit a verifiable Social Security Number (SSN) as well.

Eric Klinenberg, the author of “Going Solo,” a book about living alone, looks at the emergence of the one-person household as an increasingly preferred living choice. “People who live alone do get lonely,” Klinenberg says, “but so do people in marriages.” Younger people have made living alone a choice; in the under-65 demographic, 15 million live alone and many are actively choosing single lives, at the same time proving that the old equation between living alone and being unhappy no longer holds true. These little yellow mounds can come in either a square or round package, be bigger or smaller, and put out different amounts of light. They also come in different colors, usually from a warm white to a cool white. Although they look yellow, the light they put out when turned on is going to be white. Some LED bulbs of this type will use only one high powered LED chip to generate all the light it needs, and some like this one will use multiple smaller chips.

The PCB board with LED chips is made first, and then mounted to the heat sink usually with thermal glue.This one also has a couple screws holding it down. Now the thermal glue is called that because it has two jobs – to glue the board to the heat sink, and to transfer the heat generated from the chip away and into the heat sink.

The heat sink that holds this all together also has two jobs –the most important is to draw heat away from both the LED driver and LED chips. The heat sink is often made of aluminum for its good conductive qualities. The thin fins on the outside are designed to take what little circulating air is available and transfer heat from the aluminum to the air. This keeps the LED bulb as cool as possible, which makes for longer lifetimes.

Finally we have the cover. The cover for an A series LED bulb is usually just a frosted dome. It serves to keep the LED chips away from the elements. But other types of LED bulbs have their LED chips covered with lenses that are greatly effective at focusing the light produced, just like the PAR or MR16 LED.

Orange juice with salmon isn’t as weird as it might seem; the combination isn’t too far from a lemon wedge with white fish. O.J. gives the glaze a tangy, slightly sweet flair, and fresh ginger provides a bit of a bite that perfectly complements the fish’s richness.

Serve this with a fruity rice pilaf—sauté a chopped shallot or half an onion in a little olive oil, then add rice and sauté for a minute or two before adding broth or water and 1/2 cup of dried cranberries or golden raisins—and braised bok choy.

For 4 servings:

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 to 3 nickel-sized slices of peeled fresh ginger

1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick

1 teaspoon allspice berries

2 whole cloves

3/4 cup orange juice

4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)

Combine the soy sauce, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and orange juice in a small nonreactive saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and cook until thickened and syrupy, about 10 minutes. Remove the solids (either pick them out or pour the sauce through a strainer).

Preheat the broiler. Line a broiler pan with foil and spray the rack with nonstick cooking spray. Rinse the salmon and pat it dry with paper towels. Set the salmon fillets on the rack. Broil 5 minutes. Brush the fish with about half of the glaze. Broil until the glaze is lightly browned and the fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, 3 to 5 minutes longer. Serve with the remaining glaze on the side.

"Brain plasticity and the development of related therapies would contribute to a new optimism in an illness that was 100 years ago described as premature dementia for its seemingly progressive deterioration," he said.

The study outlining the discovery was published in the current issue of the journal Psychology Medicine under the title "Dynamic cerebral reorganization in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia: a MRI-derived cortical thickness study."

Do your research.
Look up moving companies on bbb.org. Many movers that are BBB
Accredited Businesses are also AMSA ProMovers; these companies have
pledged to uphold high standards of trust and to resolve complaints
quickly. Note the length of time a mover has been in business and read
reviews from previous customers.

Get at least three estimates.
Written, in-home estimates help you make an informed decision. Show the
mover everything that needs to be moved. Be wary of unusually high or
low estimates. If someone says they can give you an estimate over the
phone or by email, it’s possible they’re trying to scam you.

Get all agreements in writing. Read everything
carefully and make sure you have it all in writing. Get copies of
everything you sign, especially the most important document, the bill of
lading, which is the receipt for your goods and the contract for their
transportation. Never sign any blank forms. Be on the lookout for fine
print or any exclusions to your agreement.

Know your rights. Interstate
movers are required by law to provide you with certain information that
explains the moving process, as well as your rights and

Fitness tracking bands have become the must-have accessory for fitness fanatics - but scientists have revealed they may not be as accurate as you think.

Researchers tested several of the most popular models, with participants taking part in 13 different activities, including running and playing basketball.

They said the results showed the bands were at best 'reasonably accurate,' but that most were more than 10 per cent out when estimating calories burned.

To test the devices, 30 men and 30 women wore all eight monitors during a 69-minute workout that included a series of 13 different activities, ranging from writing at a computer and playing Wii tennis to playing basketball and running.
Participants also wore a portable metabolic analyzer that researchers used for comparison to test the accuracy of each device.

Gregory Welk, a professor of kinesiology at Iowa State University said the results show that bands have huge differences in terms of accuracy.

'People buy these activity monitors assuming they work, but some of them are not that accurate or have never been tested before,' said Welk.

The date on the milk carton says it's expired, but is it? - LA Times: "Most people think expiration dates tell you when food is spoiled or unsafe," said Dana Gunders, a senior scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council. "In fact, what it usually tells you is the manufacturer's recommendation for when the food is at peak quality."

The reality, she told me, is that the "use by," "best by" or "sell by" dates on most foods and beverages vary from state to state and are largely arbitrary. "There's no exact science behind this practice," Gunders said.
